Abstract: In the meat industry, the chilled process is one of the most important processes for the meat dissection. The chilled process is necessary to slow down the growth of microorganism. In the factory case study, the chilled process requires the factory workers to walk around and record the temperature in every chilled room inside the plant. The chilled room’s temperatures are periodically recorded on the documents in front of each chilled rooms and all of the documents are then collected at the end of each day. Human errors and data lost may occur in the above recording process, this may introduce two types of problem as follow: 1) In case of the temperature in the chilled room is higher than the gain limit, the microorganism is still growing; and 2) In case of the temperature in the chilled room is lower than the gain limit for too long, the cost of electrical power consumption is also increasing. An automatic temperature recording system (based on the internet of things and embedded systems) is being designed and developed to help correcting the above problems. With this approach, the temperature information is being sent across the factory computer network and stored in the centralized database on server in the main office. The user can then use the updated information to efficiently control the chilling system in the chilled rooms and view the temperature history in every chilled room. This paper presents the study of development possibility, system design and overview, system installation, system work examples, and summary. This is still an on-going research to reduce the human error, provide more safety for consumer, control improvement for the chilled processes and make it ready for the industry 4.0 in the future.
