This research aims to Study the learning outcomes of students in the AFX 252. A filmmaking project based course test the ability of students to apply the theory to their work in the AFX 252 course. The test group sample participated in the research were 80 students who registered in AFX252 course. The criteria used in this research were: 1) pre-test 2) final test 3) student's performance 4) summary report. The data analysis of summary report is divided into 2 parts. Part 1 is The learning outcomes of students using project based learning. The statistics used for data analysis were mean () and t-test dependent. Part 2 is the student's ability to apply the theory to their work. The statistics used in the data analysis were percentage (%) and teaching efficiency. The results of this research after the students have been taught by using project based learning. Can be summarized into 2 parts. Part 1 is Learning achievement of students, measured by pre-test and final test. The result show that the mean score of final test was higher than that of the pre-test at the .01 level of statistic significant. Part 2 is the analysis of students film project which has the full score of 50 points. The average score was 35.39 or 70.77 percent, and the student’s summary report which has the full score of 50 points. The average score was 40.21 or 80.42 percent. After testing the teaching performance, the result show that the teaching effective is no less that 70/80 or KW #1 >= 70/80 which is considered to be acceptable. All the result from this research show that the students in the course AFX 252 can apply the theory to produce the project
