Abstract

This research aims to reduce raw materials transportation cost that effect to the materials purchasing raw price, and offers guidelines to manage freight that saving more than the existing method by the supplier (manufacturer). The transportation is changed to manage our own transportation by applying the milk-run transport. This research methodology starts with two pilot supplier companies from 66 companies, gathering purchasing data for the past 6 months. The pilot companies are considering by the frequency of shipments per week, transportation mode and packaging size that are similar. This research uses the ECRS principle, waste elimination, raw materials consolidation and the milk-run transport to reduce raw material transportation cost. The results show that the case study company is able to reduce the expense to 12,623.84 baht per week or 50,495.36 baht per month, a ratio of 1.04%
