The purposes of this research was to study the current instructional practices and
problems of teaching Data Structure for the undergraduate students in the Software Engineering
Department, Faculty of Information Technology, Sripatum University. The sample of this
research was 40 of the undergraduate students in the Software Engineer Department, Faculty of
Information Technology, Sripatum University who registered the Data Structure subject in the
2nd semester of 2553 academic year by cluster random sampling method. The instrument for
collecting data was validated five-rating scale questionnaire. The data was analyzed in
percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The results of this research were 1) The current instructional practices of teaching the
Data Structure for the undergraduate students in the Software Engineering Department, Faculty of
Information Technology, Sripatum University as a whole was at high score. When considering
the data individually, the highest score is the personality of the instructor. Then the rest of the
evaluating data ware in the following orders: teaching/technique of teaching, teaching material
supports, quiz and evaluation respectively. 2) The problems of teaching the Data Structure for the
undergraduate students in the Software Engineering Department, Faculty of Information
Technology, Sripatum University as a whole was at low score. When considering the data
individually, the personality of the instructor had the least problem of all, the rest of them ware in
an increasing orders, they ware: quiz and evaluation, teaching material supports,
teaching/technique of teaching respectively.
