| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of the classroom research in TMT423: Research Methodology for the tourism industry is, first, to determine the effect of learning by doing in relation with the learning outcomes of students in this course. Secondly, it aims to assess the satisfaction of students with this course. The target group includes undergraduate students at the subject TMT423 during the second semester of the 2557 academic year. The class had 52 students and the information used in the research came from a final test of the learning objectives included in the lesson plans, a thesis to be prepared in pairs, oral presentations and satisfaction of learners on learning by doing. Statistics and data analysis were noted as percentages and One-sample t-test with significant level of 0.05. The findings are summarized below. Learning by doing from a management model was implemented in the abovementioned subject and compared with a benchmark study to be analyzed in two parts: learning outcomes and students’ satisfaction. The details are as follows. Regarding the learning outcomes, the results of the test were positive for 55 percent of all sample members. 14.81 percent of the students got a score of 80 percent or higher, which is equivalent to a grade “A”. For the thesis prepared in pairs and its oral defense, the results show that 37.04 percent of the assignments passed the assessment, 18.52 percent got “outstanding” results and 14.81 percent were considered as “good”. Analysis of student’s satisfaction on the learning by doing experience: The average overall satisfaction level sums up to 3.79 out of 5, which is a high satisfactory level. It shows that students are very satisfied with the level of this teaching practice. When you considered the satisfaction of student in different points that teaching of the teacher has the highest score; he emphasize on the student centre, with a score of 3.83 points out of 5. The highest score was given to the responsibility to act with anaverage value of 4.04 out of 5. In terms of teaching hour, they gave an average of 3.71 points out of 5. During the course they were also required to do some research and field study, which they valued quite positively (3.67 points out of 5). Finally, regarding their accomplishment of the learning objectives and activities, they also considered it was satisfactory, with a score of 3.83 points out of 5 | th_TH |
