This research thus aimed to study the relationship between the learning outcomes of the ARC131 and the ARC141 of the first year students in architectural major, the Faculty
of Architecture, Sripatum University. The research also studied the influence of learning
outcomes in the ARC141 of these students during the academic years 2009-2010.
This study was designed as the quantity research by using the students’ learning
outcomes as the variables. The Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was
applied as the statistic method, along with the changes in the learning outcomes during that
period by comparing the mean of two independents samples test.
It was found that the relation of the learning outcomes between the ARC131 and the
ARC141 in the academic year 2010 had the r score at 0.414 as significant intermediate
relationship. From this number, it can be implied that the learning outcomes in the ARC131
had impact on the learning outcomes of the ARC141. Moreover, the overall studying results
of the ARC141, during the academic years 2009 - 2010 had the negative changes when
comparing with the learning outcomes of the course of that year. However, due to the
assessment in subgroup category, it was found that the positive changes came from the
result of the exam and the construction models. It can be implied that the changes in
instruction method in the fundamental course can affect any courses that have relevant
contents.
