รายการ Competency Development of the Hotel Staff in Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province(CHOPHAYOM JOURNAL, 2561-11) Nisarat Thaithong; Chuleewan Praneetham; Matthew Noades; Prasert SitthijirapatThe purposes of the research were: 1) to develop the competencies of the hotel staff in Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province, 2) to compare the competencies of the hotel staff before and after training, and 3) to survey the satisfaction of the participants with the training course. The sample subjects of the study were fifty hotel staff in Koh Samui selected by purposive random sampling. The research instruments were 1) a training course, 2 pre-test and post-test, 3) a 5-point rating scale questionnaire, and 4) an open-ended questionnaire. The statistics used were the percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, and t-test was used for hypothesis testing. The findings revealed that: 1) the training helped to enhance the personnel' competencies on service mind, cross-cultural competency, human relations, team work, personality / emotion control and problem-solving., 2) the hotel staff’s post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores with statistical significance at the .01 level., and 3) the participants confirmed that they were satisfied with the training program and gained more knowledge, competencies, and skills. Improving employees’ competencies is necessary and could improve the performance, job, and satisfaction of organization. Therefore, education and training for enhancing career and development of competencies should beprovided to hotel staff and the personnel in the tourism and service industries in order to improve organization development and gain competitive advantage.รายการ Self-care Behavior of Monks with Chronic Kidney Disease(CHOPHAYOM JOURNAL, 2561-11) Warunsiri Praneetham; Prasert Sitthijirapat; Kanchana KiatkanonThe purpose of this research was to study self-care behavior of the Monks with Chronic Kidney Disease. Sample of this research was 150 Monks at Priest hospital, Bangkok. Questionnaire has been employed to collect data which consists of two parts. The first part was demographic data of Monks. The second part was self-care of the monks in five dimensions, 53 questions, which are self-routine during one month, food habits, exercise, stress management, adaptation under doctor’s order, and seeking medical treatment behavior. Statistic to be used in this study was frequency, percentage, and standard deviation. The findings found that 95.3 percent of respondents were 50 years old and upper with co-morbid included Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease and Dyslipidemia, and 4.7 percent with CKD. The average self-care behavior in overall was good level. Considering each aspect: the highest level was self-routine behavior during one month, second was seeking medical treatment, and the lowest level was food habits. There should have a campaign to offer a healthy food to the monks, develop or identify the way to promote the health of the monks, and raise the awareness in the care and management of monks' health in a holistic and sustainable manner.รายการ The Students’ Decision on Selecting the Accommodations in Surat Thani Province(CHOPHAYOM JOURNAL, 2561-11) Jeerati Poon-Ead; Chuleewan Praneetham; Prasert Sitthijirapat; Nipaporn JongwutiwesThe purposes of this study were 1) to study the decision of the university students on selecting accommodations in Surat Thani province, and 2) to analyze the relationship between marketing mix factors (4Ps) and students’ decision on the selection for accommodations. The samples of the study were 391 undergraduate students selected by stratified random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire. The statistics used for data analysis were the percentage, frequency, mean and standard deviation, and Pearson’s product moment correlation was used for this study. The study indicated that the main purpose of the most students was for traveling and relaxing with their family. They mostly stayed for 2 nights. They booked and preferred mostly a hotel room in advance by phone, and they searched the information about the accommodations from the internet. The research findings revealed that the location and promotion regarding the marketing mix factors were related significantly to the students’ decision on selecting the accommodations at the .01 level. Additionally, the factors for the decision making on the accommodation of the students were price, service, promotion, and location or distribution channels respectively. The study recommended that the hotel staff should be trained to improve language skills. The accommodations must be clean and fully equipped. Moreover, special offers and promotions should be provided clearly on the website and online booking.
